My journey: From Haiti to "Mom's Recipe"

I'm Tmel, though many know me as Annie Melissa . I'm a passionate Haitian woman with a deep love for what I do and, most importantly, for my homeland. Since childhood, I've cultivated a keen interest in beauty, fashion, food, and knowledge, always envisioning a profitable and productive business in Haiti. Inspired by my mother's love and true to my roots, I've always said I must create something that would resonate so loudly, wherever she is, that she could hear it, even though she's no longer with us.

I studied Business Management in Haiti and became a civil servant in public administration. However, my entrepreneurial spirit soon took over, leading me to create my first handbag company, TmelCollections. Later, I ventured into gastronomy, where I met my husband and we started our family. Our beautiful daughter, Dannie, was born.

The Birth of Radiance DANNIE

The story of "Mom's Recipe Cosmetics" truly began when Dannie was six years old. Her very frizzy hair was a constant source of pain, leading to many tears during styling. I tried countless branded products without success. Determined to find a solution, I began creating natural-based hair oils in my kitchen to make her hair softer and shinier.

Between pots and wooden spoons, blending the wonderful properties of rosemary and castor oil, and applying my mother's wisdom, I created an ancestral formula from my native land. The results were spectacular when I started using it on Dannie's hair after every wash. As an entrepreneur at heart, I immediately saw the opportunity to give new meaning to the beauty rituals that had always fascinated me. I recognized the potential to bring well-being to other children facing the same hair challenges as Dannie.

That's when I enlisted the help of a chemical engineer in Santiago, Dominican Republic, to transform my personal experience into a professional recipe. In August 2024, Mom's Recipe Cosmetics was officially born with its first children's line, "Radiance DANNIE." Alongside my family, my goal is to continue cultivating my roots and generating abundance, not only in children's hair but also in the feminine essence of all women.
